Plantar Warts (Veruccae)

Plantar Warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. As the name suggest, they grow on the plantar surface of the foot. As we then walk on our feet, the pressure caused by the ground against the wart can be extremely painful.

As plantar warts are a viral infection, they are also contagious. They are often transmitted in wet/damp areas such as swimming pools and communal showers.

Your friendly Podiatrist here at All Ages Podiatry will thin the skin/callous that covers the wart followed by freezing, application of acids or needling.
